I am of that old breed who learned to write with a fountain pen. Our school desks even had ink wells in them. So it’s always been my way to use a fountain pen, however as the years have gone on I find myself a sufferer of severe ptsd which makes writing a difficult task, the brain works so much faster than the hand.
And so I found an advert for Zelo rollerball pens, I was immediately struck by the beauty of the matte black pen and when payday rolled around I decided to drop the hammer on the zelo. And boy am I pleased that I did so. The pen is substantial in diameter but not so much that it is uncomfortable, on the contrary it makes holding the pen a real treat. It’s big enough for my enormous hands but not so big that it’s burdensome.
As far as looks are concerned it is a thing of rare beauty, it looks like a writing instrument that should have an extra zero in the price, and once you remove the lid and write that first line you realise that this is an awesome pen. It is extremely smooth, with no dry spots or over inking. It’s like writing with my favourite fountain pen with none of the disadvantages, I love it. I love it so much I intend to buy the copper version to use as my red pen. So would I recommend the Zelo pen? Too right I would. It’s a work of art and makes writing a pleasure, the words just seem to flow from the nib. You will never know what you’re missing out on until you try a Zelo for the first time. Now all I wish for is that they will produce a matte midnight blue version. Now that would be really awesome.
